Today marks day 697 since we began our ambitious journey to take a business from zero to a million rands in sales, proving that with the right mentality and tools, any entrepreneur can achieve their goals. This journey has not just been about building a business; it has been about validating the principles I laid out in my 2020 book, Nomayini: The Mentality You Need Before Starting Any Business.

When I wrote Nomayini, I wanted to empower aspiring entrepreneurs with the mindset and tools they would need to overcome the challenges of starting and growing a business. Little did I know, the book would become my own guidebook in building Z2B Stokvel, Z2B Aquaponics Farm, and Z2B Eyethu Meat Wholesalers.

The Journey So Far

Starting from scratch, I used the lessons from Nomayini to build a sustainable, impact-driven business. These principles guided me through the highs and lows, teaching me to:

  • Adopt a problem-solving mentality: Instead of being overwhelmed by challenges, I embraced them as opportunities to innovate. This approach helped Z2B Stokvel transform traditional group saving into a funding model for startups.
  • Build in public: By sharing my journey on social media, I created a community of supporters, customers, and collaborators who are invested in the success of Z2B.
  • Stay disciplined and adaptable: In 697 days, I learned that success isn’t linear. Whether expanding aquaponics operations or adjusting to market demands in the meat wholesale industry, adaptability has been key.

Proving the Principles Work

The milestones we’ve reached prove that the mentality in Nomayini is not just theoretical but practical. Some of these milestones include:

  • Achieving financial sustainability: From day one, financial discipline and strategic decision-making were essential to building a solid foundation for growth.
  • Scaling operations: By leveraging stokvel funding and reinvesting profits, we expanded from a single idea to multiple business units.
  • Creating impact: Beyond financial gains, Z2B has brought meaningful change to the communities we serve through job creation, food security initiatives, and skills development.

What’s Next?

While 697 days have been a testament to the effectiveness of Nomayini, the journey doesn’t stop here. Our next goal is to build further on this foundation, reaching new customers, introducing innovative products, and mentoring other entrepreneurs to adopt this winning mentality.

A Message to Aspiring Entrepreneurs

If you’ve been hesitant to start your entrepreneurial journey, let today be your inspiration. The principles in Nomayini are not reserved for seasoned businesspeople—they are for anyone ready to commit to their vision.

As I reflect on day 697, I am proud to say that this journey proves that Nomayini works. It is a mindset, a toolkit, and a way forward for those bold enough to chase their dreams.

The journey to a million rands—and beyond—is possible for you too. All it takes is the right mentality.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to build, grow, and inspire.

Let’s keep moving forward.
